#art4jangala
This year, Jangala’s Big Box will become a blank canvas for budding and established artists everywhere.
To celebrate 40 years of the internet and Jangala’s 5th birthday in 2023, we are running an art competition!
Winning artworks will feature on Big Boxes, which will be deployed to project partners around the world who are in need of internet connection.
The theme is ‘The Internet’, which will ask participants to manifest their own interpretations of the internet creatively, and will undoubtedly highlight the diversity of perceptions of the online world and what it means to different groups.
We’re inviting all artists worldwide - professional, amateur, digital and non-digital - to enter what will surely be a fantastic showcase of artistic talent.
Who can take part?
#Art4Jangala is open to everyone, including those who’ve been connected to the internet by Jangala in the last five years.
We’d be delighted to receive contributions from professional artists who are keen to support our cause, outside of the competition. In recognition of how your participation will elevate this project, we would guarantee to display your work in the exhibition and feature it on a Big Box vinyl wrap and/or in print and/or on merchandise. We’d be incredibly grateful for your support.
winning and shortlisted artworks
As well as featuring on Big Boxes which will be sent to our projects worldwide who are in need of internet, we will be running a very special exhibition of the winning and shortlisted artworks.
The exhibition will run for a limited time, followed by a global auction (live and/or online) of the original artwork and/or limited edition print series. We may also product merchandise (e.g. t-shirts) with the designs.
We are open to digitising digital artwork as an NFT series to be sold on a dedicated NFT marketplace. We are interested in partnering with established NFT digital artists or a studio to design an exclusive NFT series for Jangala. Please contact art@janga.la if this of interest.
artwork details
Your submissions should be designed as a piece of artwork that fits the front of Big Box - full-bleed where possible. The dimensions to fit are L310mm x W240mm x H80mm.
These will then be reproduced by Jangala as vinyl wraps to be applied to the Big Boxes, which will be sent to our projects worldwide.
For established and vetted artists, a limited number of ABS plastic casings can be supplied on request for those able to work in this medium, so your artwork can be designed directly onto the box.
Please contact art@janga.la for a Big Box template, or to request a casing.
