We are proud to announce we are developing a new product, Get Box, to provide low-cost, secure and rapidly deployable Wi-Fi for charities and aid organisations  during the Covid-19 pandemic, in the UK and beyond. We are collaborating with frontline social welfare charities to begin pilots in late May.

As many parts of the world enter a period of possibly prolonged lockdown, the delivery of social services will be hindered for the foreseeable future. Many providers are turning to online service delivery, for example, to give information and care services to those deemed particularly susceptible to Covid-19, to allow children and students to continue their work from home, to enable social contact for the isolated, and to support vulnerable individuals. However, many of the lowest-income and most vulnerable people, 17% of UK households, do not have fixed broadband in their homes. This lack of access has been severely compounded by the closure of libraries, cafes and other venues which offer the free Wi-Fi access upon which many rely.

Getting urgent Wi-Fi to those in need will be hugely beneficial over the Covid-19 shutdowns, and in many cases, on a longer-term basis.

What is Get Box?

  1. A paperback-sized internet connectivity device that’s posted where it’s needed. Simply connect to mains power to create instant Wi-Fi that can cover a dwelling. For larger buildings multiple Get Boxes can be deployed, requiring no coordination.

  2. Low-cost and convenient.

  3. Able to make efficient use of costly 4G data to connect through smart bandwidth shaping and data management, allowing multiple users to engage with rich media without risking allowance exhaustion.

  4. Easy for organisations to activate and remotely monitor for issues, aggregate usage statistics,  and ensure that Get Boxes are being used, using a simple online service

  5. Safe secure technology that can be remotely updated.
